Description
About Wm. Knabe & Co.
Founded in 1837, Wm. Knabe & Co. is one of America’s great historic piano makers, long admired for its warm,
expressive tone and refined musical character. Knabe pianos were widely respected in concert halls, conservatories,
and homes throughout the 19th and early 20th centuries.
The KN-520 was built during the respected Samick ownership era, combining traditional Knabe design principles with
modern manufacturing consistency and reliability.
The KN-520
This is a true 5’3″ baby grand, offering a larger musical scale, fuller tone, and stronger bass response than smaller entry-level grands.
Designed to compete with Yamaha GC1 and Kawai RX-1–class instruments, the KN-520 delivers a balanced, responsive action and the warm,
expressive tone Knabe is known for, all housed in an elegant high-polish ebony cabinet.
Exceptional Value
A rare opportunity to own a real 5’3″ grand piano paired with a premium PianoDisc player system—
offering performance, silent practice, recording, and entertainment—at less than half its original cost.
Piano Disc with Record feature
PianoDisc is a modern player piano system installed on a real acoustic piano, allowing the piano to play music automatically with moving keys and pedals while producing true acoustic piano sound—not digital speakers.
Using a smartphone or tablet, the system can wirelessly access and play thousands of songs in a wide variety of musical styles. PianoDisc systems are popular for homes, entertaining, restaurants, teaching studios, and anyone who enjoys having live piano music in the room.
Select PianoDisc systems also include the optional QuietTime Record and Silent Practice system — a premium upgrade that can add several thousand dollars to the cost of the piano.
This feature allows the piano to be muted for private headphone practice while digitally recording the pianist’s performance. The performance can then be played back silently through headphones or reproduced acoustically through the actual piano with moving keys and pedals.
Because of the additional hardware, sensors, optical systems, and silent rail components required, relatively few player pianos are equipped with both the full player system and the QuietTime record functionality.
This combination gives the piano the ability to function as:
• A traditional acoustic piano
• A self-playing entertainment piano
• A silent practice piano
• A digital recording piano
• A playback and performance reproduction system with digital piano sounds.
All-in-one instrument.
