Very small numbers of the Kawai RO grand piano were produced for only a limited time. These grand pianos were the predecessor to the Shigeru Kawai handmade pianos. The Kawai RO and EX concert grand pianos were built in a separate grand piano facility called the Ryuyo Grand Piano Factory. Hence the name of these pianos was designated the RO grand piano, for the Factory where they were produced.
A very high level of care and craftsmanship was taken to manufacture these pianos. Meaning that the careful selection of materials, and standards for manufacturing was taken with the highest level of craftsmanship.
The Soundboard, rims, bridges, and the action had significant improvements to ensure the highest quality in sound and feel.
