Measuring just under 42″ in height, the Steinway Model F was produced as a mid-sized addition to Steinway & Sons’ line of vertical instruments. At home in professional practice rooms and homes throughout the world, these console-style instruments were the introduction to Steinway for many pianists. We are pleased to offer Steinway & Sons Upright Model F, Serial #464562, for sale in our Providence, RI, showroom.
This piano was built at the New York Steinway Factory in 1979 and has been expertly maintained throughout its service life. The action features Accelerated Action mountings and the original action parts are in excellent order. The original hard maple pinblock securely grips the tuning pins for a stable pitch. The original solid spruce Diaphragmatic soundboard is tight against the supporting ribs and is also in pristine condition. The soundboard is free from any cracks. The piano’s cabinet features Mid-Century style carvings and is veneered in a pleasant cut of walnut. The piano includes the original, matching bench.
Our piano technicians have carefully inspected this instrument to ensure that its mechanical condition matches its exterior. They have found that the piano’s action is responsive and the piano’s tonal range is quite rich and full. Steinway & Sons is primarily known for its grand pianos. Although not exceedingly rare, Steinway uprights are not as commonly found offered for sale, especially in this good of cosmetic condition.
