Originally purchased new from a Yamaha dealer in the United States, which is important to some customers. Avery sees no discrepancies between Yamaha pianos destined for the United States, and Pianos sold to families in Japan. Yamaha pianos are still manufactured to a very high standard and don’t change the processes or materials used between each piano’s destinations. Yamaha discloses that they season the pianos differently depending on the destination. Still, Japan has a very similar environment to the northeast, so we don’t have any reason to be concerned.
This is an excellent example of a used Yamaha U1 in very good condition. The touch is very precise and refined, suitable for most playing styles.
Yamaha pianos, in general, are reputed for being brighter and having a clearer sound definition. Brighter pianos also tend to be louder and have more volume. These added characteristics can benefit larger sound venues, including churches, auditoriums, and schools.
This particular Yamaha U1 produces a rich and deep bass tone, which is desirable for most genres of music. The stereotypical Yamaha sound does not plague this U1. It is robust and full-sounding pallet, which is suitable for some and more desirable as well.
The hammers are in excellent condition, and a light filing is needed to round out the hammerheads. The soundboard is in near-perfect condition, free from cracks and imperfections. It’s amazing how durable Yamaha pianos are and how they hold up over time.
If you are looking for an affordable U1 piano in good condition, this may be the piano for you. The U1 is a very robust-sounding and performing piano that holds a tune quite nicely. It has a very high-quality look and sound that will satisfy any musician for many years.
